Why serviced apartments make sense here
KL has an enormous supply of condo-style serviced apartments, many in the same towers as international-brand hotels but run at a lower nightly rate for longer bookings. For a stay of a week or more, a one-bedroom unit with a kitchen and washing machine is often cheaper than an equivalent hotel room — and considerably more livable.
What to actually check before booking
- Who's managing it — some are professionally managed by a hotel brand or established operator, others are individually rented by private owners through a booking platform; standards vary far more with the latter
- Building facilities — pool, gym and 24-hour security are common in newer towers, but not universal; check rather than assume
- Kitchen equipment — "kitchenette" can mean anything from a full stove to a single induction plate; check photos and the listing description closely
- Laundry — in-unit washer/dryer vs. a shared laundry room on another floor makes a real difference for a longer stay
Where to look
KLCC has the highest concentration of premium serviced apartments with skyline views. Bangsar South and Mont Kiara offer a more residential, better-value option for genuinely long stays, particularly if you don't need to be in the tourist core day to day.
For stays of a month or more, it's often worth contacting a building's management office directly rather than booking only through a listing platform — direct rates can be meaningfully lower.
